Information about the song

When the pitcher’s a scrub, but you pop the ball up
That's Amaury
When he three-hits your team, and you’re ready to scream
That's Amaury
When the troop can’t hit Ryan Rupe, can’t hit Ryan Rupe
You will say "Who’s that fella"
Fans will moan, lose to Shawn Chacon, lose to Shawn Chacon
And they’ll shout, "Man, you smell-a"

When you can’t hit the curvey that’s pitched by Chad Zerbe
Amaury
When you’re so bad it hurts with a pitcher named Sturtze
You can’t hit
When you swing for the fences, but miss by so much you look sorry
Scuzza me, but you see when the ump says "Strike Three"
That's Amaury

When you can’t hit the curvey that’s pitched by Chad Zerbe
Amaury
When you’re so bad it hurts with a pitcher named Sturtze
You can’t hit
When you swing for the fences, but miss by so much you look sorry
Scuzza me, but you see when the ump says "Strike Three"
That's Amaury

June 26, 2001: The Mets have stumbled through the first three months of the 2001 season, after winning the 2000 National League championship. Their hitting has been atrocious, and while it's no disgrace to lose to a Randy Johnson or a Kevin Brown, the Mets are getting beat by a succession of journeymen and unknowns, including the less-than-immortal Amaury Telemaco. As far as I'm concerned, all these pitchers are Amaury.
