Information about the song

(Killer guitar introduction)
When Frank was a young man,
Signed a contract that had lots of pay
Now that he's gettin' older, so much older
He left the camp and said he wouldn't play
Thought that he got screwed
Thought that he got screwed
He said lots of things that just aren't true, and he
Looked like a fool
So let me tell you that the

Hurt's no good.
Come on and listen now, the Hurt's no good.
He should shut up his mouth and just swing the wood.
Because the Hurt's no good.

He doesn't do any fielding.
Good with the bat one year out of three, yeah.
He isn't very appealing
To other teams as he thought he be there
Frankie man, its you.
Hey, Frank, you're lookin' greedy too
Swing a bat four times a day is
All that you ever do do.
So let me tell you that the

Hurt's no good.
Come on and listen now, the Hurt's no good.
He should shut up his mouth and just swing the wood.
Because the Hurt's no good.

He ain't getting' no big deals
He shouldn't make any plans himself
He's just a player with bad wheels
But if he played first base all year long,
Played first base all year long.

The Hurt's no good.
Come on and listen now, the Hurt's no good.
He should shut up his mouth and just swing the wood.
Because the Hurt's no good.
Chorus twice

The Hurt's no good.
Come on and listen now, the Hurt's no good.
He should shut up his mouth and just swing the wood.
Because the Hurt's no good.

March 3, 2001: Frank Thomas AKA The Big Hurt made a jackass out of himself by leaving training camp, whining about his contract, and then returning and saying it wasn't about money. Then his agent dropped him. Serves him right. John Cougar Mellencamp inspired this song.
