Information about the song

De-di-de-de-de-de-de-de De-de-de-de-de
Doo-di-doo-doo-doo Doo-doo-doo
De-di-de-de-de-de-de-de De-de-de-de-de

Goodbye to you Mr. Alomar
Mets fans hate you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
Good riddance, please, Mr. Alomar
Your Hall of Fame first ballot's gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We thought when you were coming, you were going to make us smile
And now you should be ashamed about yourself
Every time you took the field, you didn't even try
Never stand your ground and play just like a drone

Goodbye to you Mr. Alomar
Mets fans hate you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
Good riddance, please, Mr. Alomar
Your Hall of Fame first ballot's gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Go on to Chicago and don't dare come back again
Shut your mouth, you sound like you're a nut case
You're a little turd ball playing with no style and flair
I just hope you didn't rub off on the kids

Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mr. Alomar
Mets fans hate you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
Good riddance, please, Mr. Alomar
Your Hall of Fame first ballot's gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Taking in a baseball game from Shea
Nothing anybody did could ever light your fuse
Every time you play the game you lose

Where have you gone, Johnny Olerud
The Mets fans turn their lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Mr. Alomar
Johnny O has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Comments?

July 5, 2003: On July 1, the Mets traded Roberto Alomar to the Chicago White Sox for three minor leaguers. Thus, the sad history of his tenure in New York came to a close. He will still get into the Hall of Fame, but his season and a half in a Mets uniform has seriously tarnished his repuatation and his legacy. I think it's appropriate to send him on his way with a song written and performed by two guys from Queens.
