(Instrumental introduction)
As I walk along
I’m thinking ‘bout what went on
With Mota, and how he was so wrong
And as I still walk on
I know that this isn’t done
And Mota will get his before too long
Mike gets thrown at in the game
Mota chickens out , he’s really lame
Escaping from old Jeromy
That was just cowardly
‘Cause he’s a chicken
A chi-chi-chi-chi-chicken
Yeah,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he ran away,
And it’s no wonder,
That he won’t play-ay,
That chicken runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
(Instrumental interlude)
Mike gets thrown at in the game
Mota chickens out, he’s really lame
Escaping from old Jeromy
That was just cowardly
‘Cause he’s a chicken
A chi-chi-chi-chi-chicken
Yeah,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he ran away,
And it’s no wonder,
That he won’t play-ay,
That chicken runaway,
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
(Repeat and fade:)
Run, run, run, run, runaway.
March 16, 2003: In a Spring Training game in 2002, Dodgers' pitcher Guillermo Mota deliberately hit Mike Piazza of the Mets with a pitch. There were some words later after both had left the game. A year later, Mota came inside with the first pitch and hit Piazza with the second, then ran into the dugout before Piazza and Jeromy Burnitz could reach him. This song calls Mota what he is.
