Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung
Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung
Mr. Wilpon, get us a stud
Get us a hitter that isn't a dud
A guy who hits some homers and doubles
And a good glove to get us out of trouble.
Wilpon, we don't score runs
Watching our batters just isn't much fun
Get your head out of the mud
Mr. Wilpon, get us a stud.
Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung,
Mr. Wilpon, get us a stud
We're tired of seeing a bullpen of crud
We have a team with no relief pitching
Get us a guy who has a curve that's bitching.
Wilpon, give us a shot
Get us a pitcher whose fastball is hot
Get your head out of the mud
Mr. Wilpon, get us a stud.
Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung,
Mr. Wilpon, get us a stud
Most of our roster looks like Elmer Fudd
Someone who hits the ball to Wisconsin
Or maybe throw a pitch like Randy Johnson
Mr Wilpon, this must be told
Give us a winner before we're too old
So get your head out of the mud
Mr Wilpon, bring us, please, please bring us
Mr Wilpon, bring us a stud.
Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung,
April 24, 2004: Early in the season it is obvious that the Mets don't have the horses to compete in the National League East. This old song was popular not long after current Mets owner Fred Wilpon attended Lafayette High School in Brooklyn with a stud pitcher named Koufax. Perhaps you've heard of him.
