Asked a boy what he wanted to be
He said "Mister, can't you see"
I want to be famous, and make lots of dough
On the diamond is where I'll go
I want to be just like Nomar
He can hit them mighty far
I'm gonna be a baseball star
And make lots of money
I told that boy that his prospects were good
And he said "Mister, it's understood
That I will hit them as hard as I can
And be like Nomar when I'm a man"
I want to be just like Nomar
He can hit them mighty far
I'm gonna be a baseball star
And make lots of money
(One hundred million, yeah)
(Musical interlude)
I want to be just like Nomar
I'm gonna drive a fancy car
My name upon a candy bar
And make lots of money
I asked him what made him think he could
Play ball like Nomar and be that good
He said "I work hard and do my part
and my name's spelled backwards and that's a start"
I want to be just like Nomar
He can hit them mighty far
I'm gonna be a baseball star
And make lots of money
(Repeat and fade:)
One hundred million, yeah

May 17, 1999: On May 10, 1999, Nomar Garciaparra blasted the Mariners, hitting two grand slam homers and a two run homer. He followed that up two days later by going 4 for 5 against the Mariners with 2 doubles, and 3 RBIs. And, oh yes, the Red Sox won both games handily.
