Tonight your bat is ringing
We cheer each time you're swinging
Run down the line and give the fans high fives
But will you be here tomorrow?
Is this a lasting tenure
Or just a short adventure?
Can we expect to see you in July?
Will you still be here tomorrow?
Tonight with grace astounding
Youmake a catch and save a run
But will you be outbounding
When the night meets the morning sun?
We'd like to know that your glove
Is one we'll see much more of
So tell us now, and we won't ask again
Will you still be here tomorrow?
(Instrumental interlude)
So tell us now, and we won't ask again
Will you still be here tomorrow?
Will you still be here tomorrow?
Will you still be here tomorrow?
June 9, 2006: The Mets recently called up top prospect Lastings Milledge while Xavier Nady is recovering from an emergency appendectomy. Milledge has been playing so well, and has become such a fan favorite, that the fans are clamoring for the team to keep him after Nady returns. Here's my twist on a wonderful song that was written by Carole King and was a big hit for the Shirelles.
