Information about the song

He's a good guy. Knows how to manage.
Successful with Birds, Reds and Mets
He's a good guy. Just see his winning record.
He's a good guy, but he can't win out west

It's a long drive, coming from Reseda
Down the freeway, to the old ball yard.
And they're a bad team, they don't even hustle
They're a bad team. They break their fans hearts.
Now they're free, free falling
Yeah, they're free, free falling

All the fat cats that live in the Valley
Head West toward Ventura Boulevard
Yeah, those fat cats leave in the seventh inning
While the real fans sit home with broken hearts
Now they're free, free falling
Yeah, they're free, free falling

We watch them glide down the Western Division
And then they ride down into last place
They're gonna free fall way below five hundred
Gonna give up on the pennant race
Now they're free, free falling
Yeah, they're free, free falling

(Repeat and fade)
Now they're free, free falling
Free falling
Now they're free, oh, free falling

July 3, 1999: Rupert Murdoch and Fox spent a lot of money on the Dodgers, who had the worst record in baseball in June 1999, and started July in similar fashion. As it turned out, they didn't improve much the rest of 1999, nor in 2000, and Davey Johnson was eventually fired.
