Information about the song

I thought Mo Vaughn losing weight’s a fairy tale
After last year’s team atrocity
Striking out and errors (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
That's the way it seemed (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
Disappointments all throughout the team

Then I saw his shape
Now I'm a believer
Now the tape
Has less to unwind
Mo lost weight (MMMM, WHOA)
I'm a believer, so is Tom Seaver and the guys

I thought Mo would show us all his home run swing
Seemed the more he swung the less he got
The team just had me cryin’ (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
Watching them was pain (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
Made me wish the games were called for rain

Then I saw his shape
Now I'm a believer
Now the tape
Has less to unwind
Mo lost weight (MMMM, WHOA)
I'm a believer, so is Tom Seaver and the guys

(Instrumental interlude)

Ah, striking out and errors (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
That's the way it seemed (di-dit-it-di-DIT)
Disappointments all throughout the team

Then I saw his shape
Now I'm a believer
Now the tape
Has less to unwind
Mo lost weight (MMMM, WHOA)
I'm a believer, so is Tom Seaver and the guys

Yes, I saw his shape
Now I'm a believer
Now the ta-a-a-ape
Has less to unwind
Well, I'm a believer
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

(Repeat and fade:)
Well, I'm a believer

Comments?

March 4, 2003: Mo Vaughn came to the Mets prior to the 2002 season, in somewhat less than the best shape of his life. After a poor season, he spent the winter of 2002-03 getting himself into better shape. Hopefully, a song written by Neil Diamond that became a big hit for the Monkees in 1966 will be a portent for the Mets in 2003.
